Extra Vegetables' Control4 drivers for the BMB T118RDS AM/FM tuner module provideS two-way integration.
The T118RDS module is a small AM/FM receiver with serial control capabilities. It is designed so that three of the modules can be installed side by side in a 1U shelf. BMB provide a custom sheld for this purpose. These provide a neat and very cost effective radio solution for your customers.
Once set up the driver will enable RDS and sation name information from the FM band to be displayed on Control4 touch panels. Setting up your customers favorites within Control4's Media section of composer is as simple as typing in the station's frequency.
The Extra Vegetables Control4 drivers for the BMB T118RDS-EU AM/FM tuner implements the following features:
•Reliable Serial Control.
Control is via the tuner's serial port. This means reliable communications between the Control4 system and the tuner and no annoying IR bugs to fall off.
•Seek and Tune Functions .
Touch panel buttons are provided to seek the next station up or down the frequency band or to tune up or down in steps.
•Simple to set up favorite radio stations.
Using the Media section in Composer it is simple to set up favorite radio stations for your customer. All you need to do is enter the station's frequency, logo and name and the driver will automatically tune to the frequency when the favorite is selected.
•Display of Frequency, Station Name and RDS information on touch panels for FM band.
The frequency, station name and RDS information will be displayed for FM stations on all Control4 touch panels.
•Display of Frequency on touch panels for AM band.
As RDS information is not broadcast with AM; AM stations are represented only by their frequency on the display.
•Compatible with Control4 OS 1.7, 1.8 and 2.x.
All 'Driverworks' versions of Control4 are supported. There are no differences in the feature sets between versions.
Limitations
There are currently the following limitations with the driver:
•It's not a DAB tuner
This isn't a limitation as such - just a reminder that this isn't a DAB tuner.
•XM/Sirius not Supported
Although there is a US version of this tuner this is currently not supported by this driver. If anyone can get us one - we'll write the driver for it.
Requirements
The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.
•Control4 1.8 (or higher) + HC800 Controller for larger systems
The introduction of any two-way driver into a project adds to the processor load. In line with Control4's recommendations we suggest that an HC800 is used for systems of more than three rooms.
