Extra Vegetables' Control4 driver for DirecTV allows you to control and DirecTV HD PVR through the home network.
This is made possible by DirecTV's IP interface. This not only provides a reliable control interface to the satellite receiver, it also enables us to present your customer with information from the DirecTV receiver.
The driver retrieves the current program information from the receiver. The current channel is automatically displayed on the Control4 UIs. More program information is retrieved for use in custom programming.
Your customer's DIRECTV experience can be further enhanced with the optional FREE 4Store DIRECTV App. This displays what's showing on each DIRECTV revceiver in the property and provides real-time program information feedback.
The driver is fully compatible with the H34 Genie system with C-31 and RVU clients.
PLEASE NOTE - this driver does not work with the TiVo HD DVR.
The Extra Vegetables Control4 IP Ethernet driver for DirecTV implements the following features:
•Reliable IP Ethernet Control.
Control is via the home data network. This means reliable communications between the Control4 system and the DirecTV receiver and no annoying IR bugs to fall off.
•Program Channel and Title Display.
When you change a channel from a native Control4 touch panel the new Channel Number and Program Title are retrieved automatically from the DirecTV receiver. Simple Control4 programming can then display this on your touchpanels.
•Program Information Display.
When the 'Info' button is pressed as well as displaying the program information on the touchpanel the program description is also retrieved by Control4 from the DirecTV receiver. Simple Control4 programming can then display this on your touchpanels.
•Compatible with Control4 OS 1.7, 1.8 and 2.x.
All 'Driverworks' versions of Control4 are supported. There are no differences in the feature sets between versions.
Limitations
There are currently the following limitations with the driver:
•iPhone/iPad Support
Program information will not be displayed on these interfaces.
•Mini Info Bar
Currently we cannot display the program information on the 'Mini Info Bar' at the bottom of the touchpanels. As soon as Control4 open up this for TV we will add this functionality.
Requirements
The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.
•'HC' Class Controller
We do not recommend using this driver with older Media Controllers or Home Theater Controllers. They may work but the operation may be slow.
•Control4 1.8 (or higher) + HC800Controller for larger systems
The introduction of any two-way driver into a project adds to the processor load. In line with Control4's recommendations we suggest that an HC800 is used for systems of more than three rooms.
•DIRECTV Receivers Supported -H21 and newer receivers - HR20 and newer DVRs
You must be running the latest release of the STB software.
