Dreambox - v 5.0.5
Extra Vegetables' Control4 driver for Dream Media Dreambox IP Models allows you to control the Dreambox Satellite receiver through the home network.
This is made possible by Dreambox's IP interface. This not only provides a reliable control interface to the satellite receiver which is otherwise difficult to control with Control4 because of its non-standard IR remote controls.
The Dreambox is a highly capable and sophisticated satellite receiver and is now an ideal complement to a Control4 system.
The Extra Vegetables Control4 IP Ethernet driver for the Dream Media Dreambox implements the following features:
•Reliable IP Ethernet Control.
Control is via the home data network. This means reliable communications between the Control4 system and the Dreambox receiver and no annoying IR bugs to fall off.
•Crash Warning System
The driver regularly pings the Dreambox to see if it is alive. After three failures it creates and event in Control4. This can then be used to notify the installer or customer that the box has crashed. If you have an IP power switch in the project you can then automatically reboot the receiver. We are not suggesting the Dreambox is un-reliable but this is always a useful function to have.
•Compatible with Control4 OS 1.7, 1.8 and 2.x.
All 'Driverworks' versions of Control4 are supported. There are no differences in the feature sets between versions.
Limitations
There are currently the following limitations with the driver:
•One Way Driver Apart from the Crash Warning System
The driver does not provide feedback from the Dreambox
Requirements
The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.
•Control4 1.8 (or higher) + HC800 Controller for larger systems
The introduction of any two-way driver into a project adds to the processor load. In line with Control4's recommendations we suggest that an HC800 is used for systems of more than three rooms.
•Dreambox Receivers Supported
All IP controllable receivers including DM8000 series.
Disclaimer
This driver is an independent commercial release by Extra Vegetables Ltd. It is not authorized or supported either by Control4 or Dream Media. The driver uses Dream Media's official public IP protocol.
