The Extra Vegetables Control4 iTunes/AirPlay driver implements the following features:

• Rapid integration of a customer's complete iTunes library into a Control4 system. 
  Simply install this driver to allow Control4 to access and control your customer's iTunes library.  If it's in iTunes you can now select and play the content either directly on the computer or via an AirPlay device.
• Controls iTunes directly on a computer.
  If you install or connect a computer (PC or Mac) directly to the AV system our driver can provide instant control.  Select music or movies from any Control4 user interface.
• AirPlay Audio Streaming
• You can also stream content to an AirPlay device.  So you can install an inexpensive AirPort Express with the AV system and have music streaming without needing to connect the computer to the AV system.  Some Denon and Marantz cinema receivers are also AirPlay devices - the driver can stream directly to these too.
• AirPlay Video Streaming.
  The driver also allows you to select and stream video content to an Apple TV V2.  You can select any movie from your iTunes library via the media section of Control4 and it will play automatically on the Apple TV.  Note: you still need IR to control the OSD of the Apple TV V2.
• Allows playback of all iTunes music including AACs with DRM. 
  You are no longer faced with having to convert your customer's music to MP3 or asking them to repurchase their music to remove DRM copy protection.  Since all music is played via the computer running iTunes (or Apple TV v1) it is automatically able to play anything within your customer's iTunes library.
• New iTunes content instantly available.
  There's no synchronization needed for music. If your customer adds new content to the iTunes it is instantly shown on the Control 4 interfaces.
• Cover art displayed on the Now Playing Screens.
  When music is playing the cover art is retrieved from iTunes and is displayed on the Now Playing screens in line with other music devices.
• Access Apple's Internet Radio stations via play lists.
  iTunes now has a large collection of Internet radio stations you can access.  Add your customers favorite Internet radio stations to a play list and now they can choose Internet radio on their Control4 system.
• Recall Apple play lists in 'wake up' calls or from keypad buttons via simple programming.
  Want to start a play list every morning, or when your customer presses a key on a keypad?  Now you can select any play list stored on your Apple TV within simple Control4 programming.
• Provide your customers with access to Apple Movie rentals and downloads.
  Your customers will love the fact that they can download movies on their computer and then settle down in their Control4 home theatre and automatically stream them to an Apple TV. It's a great way to organize and playback from a movie collection.

Limitations
There are currently the following limitations with the driver:

• No Cover Art on Movie Detail listings
  Although we import the text information from iTunes or the Apple TV we are currently unable to import the cover art.  You can however use Control4 to lookup and populate cover art and other details on a movie by movie basis.
• Apple TV Version 2
  The IP driver does not provide control of the Apple TV OSD - you will need to use the included IR driver for this.  Control of the OSD is encrypted and protected by Apple.
• iTunes must be running
  The driver controls iTunes.  The computer running iTunes must be on and iTunes running in order for the driver to function.
• One Computer - One Playback Stream
  Each iTunes instance on a computer can only provide one playback stream at a time.  You cannot stream different music tracks from iTunes to say multiple AirPort Express'.  However the driver does allow you to choose the audio/video destination from the Control4 user interfaces.

Requirements
The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.

• HC800 highly recommended In-line with Control4's recommendations we recommend that an HC800 controller is used on all systems with more than three rooms.
• Control4 1.8 (or higher) + HC800 Controller for Full Movie Listings
  If you want to display the movie content of the Apple TV within the Control4 Movie database you must be running Control4 1.8 or higher.  We strongly recommend that you use an HC800 as your master controller in these circumstances.  Other controllers may work but overall system performance may be affected when the Apple TV is scanned for movies.
• Windows PC for Apple TV Pairing
  The supplied program that pairs the Control4 system with the Apple TV only runs on native Windows.  It will not run on a Mac Windows emulator such as Parallels. with OS 2.1 or higher you can pair directly from the driver in Composer.
