Extra Vegetables' driver for the 500 or 600 series of weather stations from WeatherHawk brings real time local weather information into a Control4 system. Whilst many are simply fascinated by weather conditions in many situations being able to react to changing weather conditions is vitally important. Not only does our driver provide real time information into the Control4 system it also allows you to set 'alert' levels on the various parameters. This in turn means you can leverage the power of a Control4 system to retract awnings, lowers shutters, switch off water features, adjust heating or cooling systems and many other practical actions. Ideal for monitoring both permanent and actuation residences.
New in this latest version of App and Driver are improved rain monitoring and support for the 600 series features such as snow and wiond gusts.
WeatherHawk are a world leader in weather stations. These are scientific instruments of exceptional quality and are relied upon for accurate information in the most demanding of circumstances.
The Driver communicates with the WeatherHawk weather station and reads the current temperature, pressure and rainfall information. The driver also monitors the various alert conditions that you define for each of these readings. There is also a special 'storm warning' monitor built into the driver. The driver can provide fully functional monitoring and reactions to weather conditions but it does not provide a user interface display.
The optional 4Store App provides the owner with a display of both the current weather conditions and historical measurements of temperature, pressure and wind speed over the past 24 hours.
The driver is IP based and can be used to monitor a WeatherHawk station on your local network or at a remote location if the station is available via the Internet.

The Extra Vegetables Control4 driver for the WeatherHawk 500 series of weather stations implements the following features:
- Polls WeatherHawk at preset intervals for local conditions.
An option in the driver determines how often Control4 polls the WeatherHawk for the local conditions. This can be every minute or 30 seconds. - Dealer can set alert conditions in driver.
You can set alert conditions for high and low temperatures, pressures, wind speed, heat index, evapotranspiration (for irrigation), humidity and battery level. There is also a potential storm warning alert option. Each of these have a 'debounce' duration to ensure the reading is constant before setting an alert. This is adjustable and helps prevent false alarms. - Events can be used to automate actions in Control4.
The driver will keep variables in Control4 up to date with the latest weather readings and fire events when alerts occur. The dealer can then add custom programming to automate devices to react to the changing weather conditions or send emails to the customer. This can be anything from lowering shutters or closing awnings, adjusting HVAC systems or emergency heaters. Can also be used to automate irrigation systems. - Optional 4Store App provides on-screen live information and history.
The 4Store App allows the owner to see the latest live information from their WeatherHawk. It also provides graphs of the previous 24 hours conditions. See the screen shots tab for more details. - IP Control.
The driver uses IP control. Since your Control4 system and server will already be connected to your home network it means there are no additional cables to be run. - Shows data in Imperial or Metric units.
You can view and monitor all data either in metric or imperial measurements. This applies both to the driver and the app.
Limitations
There are currently the following limitations with the driver:
- Storm Warning
The storm warning feature is based on generally recognized pressure drop levels. However it cannot be guaranteed to forecast accurately. Neither Extra Vegetables nor WeatherHawk will accept any liability if the station and or driver fail to forecast a particular event.
Requirements
The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.
- HC1000 highly recommended
In line with Control4's recommendations we recommend that an HC1000 controller is used on all systems with more than two rooms. - Control4 2.x
This driver is only for Control4 OS 2.x .
