WyreStorm (VisionHD/Grandbeing) - v 5.0.5

Extra Vegetables' Control4 IP interface and driver for the WyreStorm/Grandbeing/Vision HD range of AV Matrix switches provides fast and reliable control of these HDMI matrix switches from a Control4 system.   Drivers are available for the MX0404-320, MX0404-U08, MX0408-310, MX0808-310, MX0816-310 and MX1616-310. The driver is also compatible with the HDanywhere 4x4, 4x8 and 8x8 matrix switches. For other models please contact us with your requirements.

As an IP Ethernet driver there are no IR bugs to fall off and it does not use any of the serial ports on the Control4 controller.

WyreStorm switches are available in the UK from Habitech.  HDanywhere switches are available from Connectivity UK.

The Extra Vegetables Control4 IP interface and driver for the WyreStorm/Grandbeing/Vision HD/HDanywhere/Atlona range of AV Matrix Switches implements the following features:

  • Reliable IP Ethernet control of the matrix switch.
Our interface connects to the data network in the property for communication to the Control4 system. It then connects directly to the RJ45 ethernet connection on the rear of the Grandbeing/Vision HD switch.  No IR bugs or serial cables to run.
  • Compatible with OS 1.7, 1.8 and 2.x.
All 'Driverworks' versions of Control4 are supported.  There are no differences in the feature sets between versions.

Limitations

There are no limitations as such with the driver but you should note the following:

  • Static IP Address required
The matrix switch needs to be set up with a static IP address. This is most reliably achieved by changing the setting using a serial connection to the switch.  Once the IP address has been changed you will no longer require the serial connection to the switch.

Requirements

The following are required for successful deployment of the driver.

  • 'HC' Class Controller
We do not recommend using this driver with older Media Controllers or Home Theater Controllers.  They may work but the operation may be slow.
  • Control4 1.8 (or higher) + HC800 Controller for larger systems
The introduction of any two-way driver into a project adds to the processor load.  In line with Control4's recommendations we suggest that an HC800 is used for systems of more than three rooms.

Disclaimer

This driver is an independent commercial release by Extra Vegetables Ltd.  It is not authorized or supported either by Control4 or Grandbeing (who are the designer and manufacturer for all these brands).  Habitech have fully supported its development but all support is provided by Extra Vegetables through its authorized dealer network.
